Origin of Crime Branch J&K

The Crime branch of J&K Police was initially a part of CID Organization of J&K Police. It was separated in the year 1978 to function independently.


CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS


1991       Declaring office of SP CBK and SP CBJ as police stations ( SRO 133 of Home deptt).


1996      Declaring office of SP CBK and SP CBJ as P/S in 23 notified offences.(SRO 202 0f Home Deptt)


2009      Addition of Entry 24 in SRO 202 OF 1996 to deal with Cases Of Cyber Crime


2020      Reorganisation of Crime Branch ( order 130 of Home of 2020)


2021      Declaring offices of ANTF Jammu and ANTF Kashmir as Police stations for NDPS Acts (Notification -S.O 50)

JAMMU APRIL 2ND 1991


SRO 133: In exercise of the powers conferred by clause of the subsection (1) of section 4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Samvat 1989 (Act No. XXIV of 1989) the Government hereby declare the office of the Superintendent of Police Crime Branch Kashmir and the office of Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch Jammu to be the Police Stations within their respective jurisdiction for the purposes of investigation of offences under local and special laws and relevant sections of the Ranbir Penal Code as indicated in the Annexure “A” to this Notification.
